You may well ask what inspired me to do this.

In the spirit of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, who watched every cruddy movie they could get their hands on so that they could muster the courage to make Star Wars, my own inspiration began when I examined all the failed policies of past and present administrations.

It was easy. Most of them started with “War On.”

You know… “War on Drugs, War on Poverty, War on Terror, etc. I decided that putting our national energy and resources into programs designed by fear junkies and running off adrenaline, hostility and downright stinginess wasn’t going to solve any problems. All that that “fight-or-flight” mind-set was creating was pissed off former allies, and scared, angry citizens being stripped of their civil liberties one by one; many of them taken off of airplane flights for no good reason just when they were going to visit Aunt Ida for Thanksgiving.

Instead, I thought it would be a great idea to actually see what was going on in the U.S.

From what I could see, more and more people could not afford to both pay rent and put food on their table. Also more and more people were getting closer to “one paycheck away from homelessness”, and “one unexpected injury at work away from homelessness.” I had to find this out by actually listening to what poor and homeless people had to say, because the Corporate Media certainly wasn’t reporting it.

Great as society was, surely there had to be a better way for all than just living in a constant state of “Orange Alert” and WMD? I found myself agreeing that the true weapons of mass destruction were as Kucinich stated:

“I know where the weapons of mass destruction are…
Joblessness is a weapon of mass destruction.
Poverty is a weapon of mass destruction.
Homelessness is a weapon of mass destruction.
And when the government lies to the American people, that is a weapon of mass destruction.”- Dennis Kucinich

And so, as the first step back to sanity, equality and abundance for all, I disbanded Homeland Insecurity and the Patriot Acts, moving the funds formerly designated for those into building more affordable housing units.

The grossly overindulged Military Budget which had made up 43% of the National Budget was slashed to 20% of the budget- leaving it still 14 percentage points above what China spends on its military budget…and many more points over what the rest of the world spend on their military budgets.

I then used these liberated funds to:

• Form an Empowerment Panel comprised of people who were presently or formerly poor and/or homeless.
  
• Create a Universal Health Care system for every man, woman and child in the United States.
• Enact a Universal Living Wage
• Fully fund education for all and eliminate illiteracy.
• Ensure that every single former citizen of New Orleans had a way back home, to a livable, safe house and a city properly rebuilt this time to withstand strong hurricanes.

• Create a Department of Peace, with knowledge and resources about conflict resolution, non-violent communication, and active-listening

Recognizing that there were many laws and ordinances criminalizing the poor and homeless, I saw to it that these laws were done away with.

Additionally in ending poverty and homelessness I utilized alternative resources, successful experiments, and out-of-the-box thinking:

• CalEarth Forum
• The Case for Natural Building by Michael Smith: (see, in particular, “Social Justice” section)
• Deserted Military Bases as a resource for homeless veterans
• Dignity Village

Incidentally, as a distinct departure from recent predecessors, I fulfilled my Oath of Office. Not only did I preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States but I restored it to its former glory. I also restored the Bill of Rights.

P.S. I did all this without any “Signing Statements“.

However, today I had to change the theme for my blog, because it was not displaying properly in Internet Explorer.  I may not care to use Internet Explorer, but many visitors to my blog do use it, and I want them to be able to access information with equal ease.

So I’ve switched to  Connections by www.vanillamist.com which seems to display quite adequately on both browsers.

Also, I’ve been trying out various themes. Some of them completely mangle parent/baby pages and so I can not use them- others are possible; “Almost Spring”, “Ocadia”, “White as Milk” being the current top choices.

So far I like Word Press very much! It’s flexible, happy, and fairly idiot-proof.   My only experience on the down side is that sometimes it is incredibly s.l.o.w.  in loading pages and I wonder how that could be made faster.

RE Themes-  I do wonder about the endless fascination and challenge of being a web page designer.  There are some “bad hair” days when all the selections seem to be either “Dull” or “Outrageous Orange” or  “East Flamingo Nightmare Gone Wild”, so on I go in my search for a website look that is easy on the eyes but not sleep-inducing, happy but not wearing a lampshade on the head.

Additionally, it’s my aim that people will be able to get a picture of homelessness by country, by region of the world,  and by state, province, or district.

Also included will be issues that homeless people face, such as:

• NIMBY (not in my backyard)
•  Laws criminalizing homelessness and poverty
• Hate Crimes against homeless people
• Higher mortality rates, and other health issues (hypothermia, heat-stroke, etc)
